1) Why do we charge for the EIT Reviews / Where does the money go?
The fee charged for the EIT Reviews go towards funding Theta Tau sponsored on-campus events and covering incidental costs from the EIT review itself (room rentals, snacks, equipment rentals, new review books, etc.).
Theta Tau sponsored on-campus events are geared toward enriching the experience of the undergraduate engineering body and the campus as a whole. Previously sponsored events include the Rube Goldberg competition for Picnic Day, yearly participation in E-week, and various workshops (ex. “Finance – What to do after College”). In general, all money raised through the EIT is applied towards funding on-campus open events. Membership dues cover Theta Tau member-exclusive events.
2) What book does the EIT Review use?
Lecturers are provided with a copy of Kaplan’s® EIT Review Book – Fundamentals of Engineering FE/EIT Exam Preparation, 18th Edition. Click this link to get 15% off this book directly form Kaplan!
3) What are my options for payment?
You have the option of paying by PayPal, check, or cash. Check and cash are accepted on the first day of lecture, or by contacting the EIT organizers at eitreview@davisthetatau.org.
4) What do I do after I sign up for the sessions?
Please keep checking back to the website for updates. The website will provide information on the subject, lecturer, time, and location. We ask that you please show up a few minutes early for check-in so we can start the session on time.
5) I can’t make it to some of the lectures, can I still go?
Yes! We understand that everyone has a busy schedule that might not allow for you to make some of the sessions. Pro-rated plans are available on a case-to-case basis (in general, you must commit to make at least 80% of the sessions). Please contact the EIT organizers at eitreview@davisthetatau.org for more information.
6) I just want to take one of the Review subjects; can I just pay for one lecture?
Yes! Single sessions are $8. A cash payment is expected on the first day of lecture. Please note that sometimes seating can be limited. In those cases, students who have purchased all of the sessions have precedent over single session attendees.
7) Where can I learn more about the test?
Please visit the California Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors for official information about the EIT (http://www.pels.ca.gov/applicants/eit_lsitapp.shtml)
8) When is the last day I can sign up for the actual EIT exam?
The last day to postmark your application to the California Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors is January 29, 2010.
For any other questions, please contact the EIT Review coordinators at eitreview@davisthetatau.org.
