Professional Development
As members of Theta Tau, we strive to build ourselves professionally in order to prepare for the working industry and life after obtaining our educational goals. That is why we continually provide and promote Professional Development events to our members as well as to the engineering community on campus. Whether the events are hosted by other organizations or by the fraternity itself, we all benefit from the real-world experience that we gain from them.
Industry Info Sessions
Theta Tau frequently helps co-host and promote information sessions from various companies seeking to recruit engineering students. In the past, we have coordinated with employers like Microsoft, Gallo Wineries, and Edwards Air Force Base to co-host information sessions. Students get an introduction to what the companies do and they get a chance to ask actual employees about their experiences in industry. On top of that, students will frequently have the opportunity to network with the recruiters and submit their resume for internship positions and career opportunities. Our very own Theta Tau alumnus, Rebecca Gabel, gave a presentation about GPS and their role in making Smart Bombs for Edwards AFB; our organization has a great network of alumnus already working in the field, and this is just one example of it.
Corporate Sponsorship
We have set up a committee of members who are constantly working on obtaining funding for our fraternity and events from companies that we have ties with. The process of reaching our funding goals is one that will build on our professionalism and our presence in industry. Through writing proposals, creating presentations to give to companies, corresponding with our alumnus in the working field, and collaborating with other members, we develop the skills necessary for our future success. Whether it is communication, teamwork, networking or professional behavior and presentation, our members will have the competitive edge from their experience with projects such as this one.
