Rush Testimonials

"I was approached by an active member who was handing out flyers and he urged me to come for some free food if I could sit through a little presentation. Needless to say it didn't take much more convincing to get me through the door for that first Informational Night. I literally dragged my civil engineering buddy to that Info Night, which is a feat amongst itself! That Info Night led to Professional Development Night, which led to Social Night, which led to the Invitational Dinner and a long story short...2 years later I'm the residing President of the same organization and my buddy is the Vice President."

"I heard about Theta Tau for many quarters but was reluctant to come out to their rush events each time. I never had a good feeling for fraternities and I didn't think I had the time to get into it because I had two jobs, belonged to a club, and was taking a course load of engineering classes. Finally, my friend who is an engineer wanted to go check it out and asked me to go with her, plus she told me there was free food. So I decided why not? Free food sounds good. After the first Info Night I was very impressed with the organization and found myself coming back again and again to their rush events. Now I have significantly improved all aspects of my life including public speaking skills, time management, and especially brothers who you can never find anywhere else. I am so glad I decided to join because I know I will not get this experience anywhere in my life. I encourage you all to give it a try, even if you are skeptical, because the experience you gain from Theta Tau is unique and you really don't want to pass on this opportunity of a life time."

"First of all, to give you some background, I was never someone who was enthusiastic about Greek life. I had all of those negative views about how they hazed their members, partied every night, and did poorly in their academics. It wasn't until after one of my best friends, who had already pledged and become an active member, started talking to me about joining Theta Tau. He knew I was a student employee of Student Housing as an RA and knew that I was always stressed out. He said that this organization could be the place where I didn't have to worry about being on a pedestal. He eventually persuaded me to come out to a few of the RUSH events and see for myself if Theta Tau was for me. From that point on, everything naturally progressed and now I am the Treasurer of Theta Tau managing the budget and planning events. I know my college experience would not have been nearly as rewarding if I hadn't joined Theta Tau."
-Jarrett Gentile, Alpha Class

"I met a hand full of actives from Theta Tau about a year after I transferred to UC Davis. They were all really friendly and encouraged me to rush. I had not thought much about it, but as a transfer student it was such a great opportunity just to meet other engineering students that I had to go. Now as an alumnus, I am extremely glad I did rush and pledge or else I would not have had a place to stay for a quarter, passed ENG 104 after two tries, and simply have the friends I have now."
-Christine Bui, Beta Class

"In the past, I rushed and pledged for a professional fraternity. Unfortunately, that fraternity did not fit me and my needs very well so I decided to rush for Theta Tau. I was surprised by the professionalism and hard work the actives put into the Rush Week events. Professional Night and Social Night were perfect examples of what a professional fraternity offers: school and work related events and a healthy dose of fun. I knew then I would not only be improving myself to be a better candidate for a job after graduation, but there will be no dull moments with this wonderful group of people."
-Stanley Wu, Delta Class

"Being surrounded by peers who joined the Greek life, I knew I'd follow that path. I was seriously thinking of rushing a list of them but Theta Tau stood out the most as a Professional Engineering Fraternity. Its nature simply matched my interest as a future engineer looking to get ready for life after college. Being active now for two years, I feel I made an impact on campus and am glad to be part of something I would call historical. Thanks to Theta Tau, I gained invaluable experience and met lifelong friends. I encourage any engineer looking to enhance their college experience to consider Theta Tau. I could only hope for all current and future members to enjoy being part of this fraternity as much as I did."
-Robert Dinh, Founding Class

"When I rushed for Theta Tau, I was more interested about the free food than the events itself. However, after first entering Kemper 1065, my views have changed. After meeting all the actives and getting more information about the Fraternity, I became really interested in becoming part of it. As a Freshman, the idea of a Fraternity scared me, but I soon realized that there was nothing to be afraid of. The people were great and were willing to get to know me. I was amazed by the amount of professionalism and brotherhood they presented during the events. When I received a bid, there was no doubt in my mind that I would accept it. Then, I found the pledge process challenging, but rewarding at the same time. I was able to bond with great people as we faced different challenges that definitelty changed me as an individual. In the end, I felt that I had gained a stronger sense of professionalism. Not only that, I had gained a whole lot of brothers and I finally found another family. "
